Just got back from the San Antonio Comicon via a quick lil stop at St. Louis...Go Birds!!! Sorry just had to give a shameless shout out to my ball team!!! San Antonio turned out to be a good show after all was said and done! During the show...kinda questionable, but when the smoke cleared...it was well worth the trip! Got to hang out some more with my buds from Dead Horse: Mr. "2-Words"...Tim Gardner and family (hey guys), "Epic" Michael Champion, TonEy and Rhianna, Hot-Tub Johnny and we even got some after-hours face time with Mr. Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk) and Angus Oblong of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim "The Oblong's" fame.  So that was really cool!!!  Hey Tim I need that photo of Lou!!!!

Now ur probably wonderin how my 1st road trip with the lovely Ashley went...All u Naysayers....Weeeeell, Let  Me  Tell  You, it went absolutely wonderful!!! Couldn't have picked a better travelin buddy!!!!...She was the best lil co-pilot, bar-none, a guy like me could ask for!!  We had a blast to say the least!!!!! And at the Con, behind the table (no pun intended), she helped out with the fans questions, took orders and she also "tubed" me (no pun intended) when a print was sold...all the while lookin like a MILLION bucks!!! Kudo Ashley...well played!! Lookin forward to doin a shit-ton more shows with ya...Oh, yeah, BTW Ash...start packin ur shit, I'm clearin out a closet for ya...Yup, Ladies and Germs, I'm acquirin a roomy!!  So, stay tuned for more fun facts!

On to San Diego...I'm workin like mad to get some new print for the Gand-Daddy of all Comicons!!!  With any luck, I'll have the my new Superman print, Kermit the Frog print, Ruffalo Hulk print and if I'm SUPER lucky....Maybe a Bane...but don't hold ur breath! I still have (3) Wizard celebrities portraits to kick out...but we'll see?!  So that 's about it...goin home to draw now, then to the gym and then a much needed haircut, then chillin with the Mrs. watchin The Walking Dead!

Hey you guys, just wanted to keep you abreast (He, hee-hee, hee-hee said breast) of all of the new and exciting shit that pops into the non-stop-over-the-top-ever crazy-non-sense that is my life....Alright here it is: we just added a new show to our already jam packed 2012 comicon schedule...nothin quite like addin another Texas shows to our repertoire...(fanfare please....Da-ta-da-daaaaa) We have now added the Texas Comicon in San Antonio next weekend June 22-24 at the San Antonio Event Center.  For the 1st time I will be driving to a comicon, and accompanying me will be of course, my own lil slice of heaven...my SUPER COOL and OH-SO-HOT girlfriend....Ashley.  That's right...Ashley!! The uber cool, horror movie lovin, cigar smokin, wine chuggin, no underwear weain, super model extraordinaire! Yes folks, she will be at my side co-pilotin my every move...from here to there and back again (that sounded familiar...I think it's from a movie??)   Also, being the mind reader that I know I am....ur next question is...Will I be taking Natasha?? and of course the answer is a resoundin "NO"...I will NOT be takin "Her Orangeness" (rackin up hundreds upon hundreds of miles on her delicate frame...shame on u for even thinkin I'd do such a thing...even thoooooough it'd be really cool rollin into SA with all that horse power)...(Cut to close-up of our hero shakin head slightly...clearin all thought of abuse of his precious lil Orange bundle of joy)...Hmmmmm, Maybe...no, no, no...the answer is still no!  Anywhoooooo, I'm gonna rent some small piece of shit that actually gets some gas milage and head on down to my future homestead, which should prove to be fun....I love road trips! So, for all of you out there tryin to get to all of my/our (Dead Horse Studios) shows, please add this one to ur lists...I know it's last minute, but we just found out about it...so we hope to see ya there!

Ash, if ur readin this...don't forget to pack the handcuffs babe! :)

Now that we have WW Philly under our belt, we can focus on the one, the only SAN DIEGO COMICON...COMICON...Comicon...comicon!!!! (that was supposed to represent an echo) :).  But I would like to take a moment to reflect on all that was WW Philly.  It was a 4 day show...which should have stayed a 3 day show...no need for them to add a day...and to make a long story short here are the highlights: met tons of super nice people/fans, got The Son of Odin, Lord of Asgard's autograph and photo op (pic to follow), Met James Marsters (Spike), Amber Benson (Tara) and Mark Metcalf (The Master) and got all of their auto's...also got a pic with me and Spike and me and Tara....AWESOMENESS!!!  We...Tim, TonEy, Rhianna and I re-visited the Rocky statue and ran up the museum stairs just like the Italian Stallion so cooly did way back in 1970...we, on the other hand just looked like idiots jumpin up and down at the top of the stairs (pic's to follow).  Also a super special surprise (no one saw comin), came in the form of our bestest new buddy from the Pittsburgh Comicon, Josh Warner! Take a bow Josh!  This crazy nut drove a gruelin 14 hours at the last minute, mind u, just to hang out with us!!!  Super-Cool...Thanks Bud! We packed up after the show was over, I caught a early flight yesterday morning just so i could get some shit done around my place, which would free me up to spend some quality time with my girl Ashley...we had dinner at El Mason last night (Mexican...for those without a clue), after which we picked up a couple of really good cigars from the local cigar store by Woodfield...(HOLY CRAP does that place smell great...man, do I love the smell of a good humidor), we then grabbed a 6er of Hop Stupid from the liquor store down the road me, poured her a big glass of Pino and promply sat our asses out on my front steps and talked, smoked and drank until it was time to retire to the couch for a lil Game of Throne action!! What a GREAT night it was!!!

Back to reality...here's my big news....I will be drawin more...like 6-7 hours a day more...which means my pretties, that I will be able to crank out tons more drawings in a shorter time span...meanin, I will have Ashley done on time, The Avengers, Catwoman and Bane done by SD...Which is somethin I didn't think I could do under current work conditions. My life just keeps gettin beter!!!

ROCK-ON!!!

Hey Guys,
Got some super cool news today...someone from Brian Urlacher's (Linebacker for the Chicago Bears) camp contacted me about doin a portrait of him...which is cool!! Waitin to hear back from them on when they need it by? Also to see if it fits into my already crammed schedule of shit I gotta get done: Finish Ashley's portrait (due next month), Draw 4 cast members from Buffy The Vampire Slayer for Wizard (due next month), Stan Lee's protrait (due next month) and work on my new Avengers drawins: Cap, Hulk, Hawkeye, Battle Damaged Iron-Man and Black Widow (ALL due by mid July)......Fuck-Me!!  I wonder how all that clonin non-sense is comin along??? I need another me!....NOW!!  Hell, while I'm fillin out a clonin order, I'd also like a Mila Kunis and a Megan Fox...hmmm, that should do it...I'm not greedy! :)  Well, I have about 3 hours before my buddy's band (Netgative 1) goes on, so I'm gonna go and lay out my Avengers drawins...then it's over to Shark City for the battle of the bands final.

Have a great night and be safe!

Our Cast of Players:

Girl (A)
Boy (C)
Boy (R) or Scumbag as I like to refer to him
and Boy (B)...Boy (C)'s buddy

Now Keep in mind this is my journal and I can write whatever I want, as long as it is to the best of knowledge, True!

Ok, our lil play opens up a couple years ago in a small town called Schaumburg...this is where our hero, Boy (C) 1st meets Girl (A)...Girl (A) is really cool, smart and fun and Oh yeah....GORGEOUS and I mean a "9"...the word STUNNING comes to mind...(just so you know).  The meeting was casual, not a date or anything, they just meet.  Now, Girl (A) is already seeing someone...Boy (R) or Scumbag as i like to call him (cue Evil Music).  Now, Boy (R) or Scumbag (cue Evil Music) is not a good boyfriend, by anyone on this planet's standards (I've heard the stories), but Girl (A) continues to defend him and see him even though he sucks.  In Girl (A)'s defense, Boy (R) or Scumbag (cue Evil Music), is very good lookin and she says he makes her laugh.  But is that reeeeeally enough to put up with all of his bullshit year after year??...I think not!  Boy (C) and Girl (A) actually do hang out for a short period of time and there is actually some chemistry there...ON A SIDE NOTE: our hero is a lil bit older than Girl (A) but that doesn't really come into play just yet...that's for you, the reader to know.  Also you should know That he has a good job, nice home, cool car and he's in great shape for his age...snappy dresser, handsome chiseled features, steely Blue eyes and a 5-pack (can't quite split that lower ab in two just yet...but he's workin on it, he just needs to slow down on all the beer he's drinkin)!!  Sorry, Sorry, Sorry, I digress...like I said they get along well.  But she still won't leave Scumbag (cue Evil Music).  So, they drift apart...Boy (C) goes on his merry way and Girl (A) stays with Scumbag (cue Evil Music).

Cut to the present day, middle of May 2012.

One day at work, Boy (C), accidentally stumbles on to Girl (A)'s e-mail address...imagine his surprise, he had thought he deleted all of her info years ago...but here it was!  Now about 2 days earlier, Boy (C) was contacted by an art gallery that had wanted to hang some of his art in their upcoming exibition.  Not sure why, but Girl (A) popped into his head.  Not knowing if it was still a valid e-mail address, Boy (C) sat down at his trusty computer and typed Girl (A) a letter explaining the situation...would she be willing to pose for him? He got his response that night...Girl (A) agreed! This was great news, he had a beautiful model to pose for him at his very 1st gallery showing....it appeared all of the planets were aligning.  Now all Boy (C) had to do was get the drawing done by the deadline (which was less than 2 weeks away).  Well, to make a long story short, Boy (C) just couldn't finish it in that short period of time.  He didn't want to rush it!! Now, all this time, Girl (A) and Boy (C) had been texting back and forth and Girl (A) finally admitted that she liked Boy (C)...which was all Boy (C) wanted to hear!!  Sad thing is is that Girl (A) was still seeing Scumbag (cue Evil Music).  Even knowing this sad news, Boy (C) set up a date to go to dinner with the lovely Girl (A), thinking that if she could see how much fun he was and all he had to offer, she may just wake up and dump Scumbag (cue Evil Music).  The day finally arrives and the date goes very well, Boy (C)'s on the top of his game, cuz you know as well as I do that women expect men to be: funny, intelligent, sensitive, sincere, romantic, interesting, etc., etc, etc..he runs the gamut...but at the end of the evening....no kiss goodnight! He failed!!  Boy (C) goes to bed alone and sad.  Boy (C) and Girl (A) talk the next day and even though she says she likes him...she reminds him that she still cares for Scumbab (cue Evil Music) and that there will be nothing between them anyways.  Enter Boy (B)....Boy (C) explains everything that has happened up to date to Boy (B).  Boy (B) says "All you have to do is show her how much fun she can have with you and charm the Hell out of her...make her see how much better you are than him" Boy (C) has been down this path of thorns before...Discretion being the better part of Valor, our hero he knows that he will only get hurt by pursuing the beautiful Girl (A), he decides to cut his losses and head back to the gene pool.

So, my questions are:

Why stay with someone, regardless of years invested, who doesn't treat you well?  Do you just not realize what that person is doing to your self esteem or you are so used to it, it's all you know??

Also, Can you like 2 separate poeple equally...and if so, why would you want to??  Isn't 1 enough??

I just had one of the best weekends of my life, this past wekend at the Pittsburgh Comicon in Monroeville!!  I had the opportunity, thanks to my manager Tim Gardner, to go behind the curtain and meet one of my childhood heroes...I got to meet and spend some time with Stan Lee!  Stan Lee, for those of you who don't know, is the writer and creator of just about everyone in the Marvel Universe.  He co-created The Amazing Spider-Man, The Invincible Iron-Man, The Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, the Mighty Thor and the list goes on and on!!! Now, I know I could have met him dozens of times, he's appeared at many of the same shows that I have set up at.  Yes, I could have waited hour upon hour in the legends endless line to get 3 seconds of face time and then be on my merry way....but instead, I actually got to open up my portfolio of original pencil drawings, which consists mainly of the characters he created (see above list) and get his personal feeback and feelings on my art.  Which was priceless!!  He also did me the honor of signing my original Hulk drawing! After which, I got the chance to present him with a print of that same drawing.  (Photo of said happening to follow).  He handed the print to one of his "handlers" and told him to get it framed because he wanted to hang it up in his own personal gallery....HOLY CRAP, HUGE compliment!!! So I can now die a happy man!! :)  I did my best not to "geek" out, but I just couldn't stop smiling....here I was in front of the man who actually made me the artist I am today! If he hadn't been for him creating all of those wonderful characters all those years ago, I wouldn't have spent the hundreds of hours copying them over and over perfecting my drawing skills....I'd have probably never drawn at all!  So in turn, I owe this man a huge "Thank you" and I am forever in your debt....Cuz Stan if it weren't for you, I wouldn't be who I am today!!!

EXCELSIOR!!!!!

Man, life is good!! I tell ya I got no complaints...hit a couple speed bumps a bit ago, but I've picked myself up and dusted myself off...and i'm movin forward.  I don't mean to sound like I'm braggin, but I got some really good news last night and I just woke up in the bestest mood!! I downed a pot of coffee and as I sat at my drawin table I thought to myself, man...things really are good in "Coryville"!  My boys are all healthy, my art career is takin off, Spongebob is on and I still have all of my own teeth! :) Can't ask for more than that!!  You know, I've always had good luck throughout my whole life...shit just always goes my way.  Not sure why, it just does.  If I travel somewhere the tsunami hits just after I've been there or just before...If I want ice cream the line forms behind me....it's weird!! You'd think at 50 I'd have all the answers, but I don't...but what I do know is that if surround urself with good people who compliment ur life...things are so much easier!!  Get rid of the ones that drag u down or hold u back...I guarantee u'll see a huge change almost immediately! There ya go, there's ur fortune cookie tip for the day...use it wisely!

Have a good one guys, I'm off to Pittsburgh!

C2E2:
A BIIIIIIG "Thank You"!!!  to everyone who came by my C2E2 table hung out and bought some prints and also to those of you who attended my 1st Gallery showing at the Gallery Provocateur! Both were huge successes as far as I'm concerned!!  C2E2 was totally crazy and I really mean that...there were times when I was so swamped with orders that I had to have Vaughn, TonEy and Toad pulling the prints and take the money in order for me to keep up!!!  Not that it's a bad thing to have happen, but people as a whole, are impulse buyers and if you can't get to them in a timely manner...they'll go somewhere else...and I won't have that!!! :)  Hence, me having my "Booth Bud's" there to help me...no offece guys, but I gotta get some hot chicks to help me out...u guys in short skirts just wasn't cuttin it! :)  Cool things that happened at the show: got to meet Shia Labeouf , got a pic and an auto (pic's to follow) There was a lagre display and later an auction of the Captain America costumes and props (pic's nto follow) and got 2 HUGE compliments from very high up art collectors, that in their opinion, they liked my art better than a certain artist who shall remain nameless (Hint: it rhymes with Malex Cross)..which was Huge, cuz I actually think "Malex Cross" is finest artists to grace this lil Blue ball we call home...even though "Malex" and I haven't talked in years, I still respect the man's art!!!  So those were monsterous compliments!!!

Gallery Provocateur:
My 1st gallery "exibition" experience...SUPER cool!  Wasn't really sure what to expect, but it turned out to be very classy (in a laid back kinda way), which made me fell very comfortable.  For those of you who could not attend (shame on you..J/K), the gallery itself consists of a lobby, kitchen area and a main room...it's has a very quaint feeling to it, even though it's an art gallery...if that makes any sense.  The decor is contemporary chic and there were lots of appetizers, fine wine and this year they included beer (thank God...Mmmmmmmm, beer).  Showing at this exibition April 14th-June 30th were 8 artists: Jeff Wack, Michael O, Dodie, Chris Shy, Lee Kohse, Bob Hassan, Ed Hicks and yours truely.  One thing I really liked about the spacing or laying out of the art work, was how it flowed form room to room...each piece seemed to be in it's own perfect spot.  Most of the art displayed was digital on canvas...(and those of you who know me, know what I think of digital art)...pretty to look at, but literally with a slight amount of practice and the right equipment anyone can do it!  Bring on the hate mail, ya'll know it's true....but no real "heart/soul or love" goes into it.  Anyway, there are some beautiful pastel and oil nudes there and of course, Dodies magnificent "Fairy Princess" pencil drawing hanging in the main lobby...that is just FUKIN Awesome!!!  So, thanks to all of my friends who were able to attend...John, Thande, Tim, Champ, Toad, Martin, Johnathan, Bob, Champ, Rhianna (and family), Dodie, Frank and the lovely Mrs. Frank, Nick and Maria and a bunch of other people who I didn't know, but I'm sure they were very nice! I Also have to mention, towards the end of the evening, came a small herd of some were really hot women...as in "Holy Crap look I think my retinas just melted HOT"..as in "Runway Model Victoria's Secret HOT"...as in "I need to be with u so bad, Here's a Kidney I only need 1 HOT"!!!  NOTE TO SELF:...move to the city...NOW!!!  Anyway, I had a lot of fun and the what a great and humblin experience seeing my crude scribbles hanging along side such great art!

Now, off to the next show....

Next weekend is gonna be a really big weekend for me!!!  C2E2 kicks off my personal lil marathon at the North Building McComick Place on the 13th and goes to the 15th and the Gallery Provocateur (2125 N Rockwell in Chicago) showing starts on the Saturday the 14th at 8:00pm-12:00am.  Tim and Co. come into town next week, and it appears that the "House of Cory" is where everyone's gonna crash! That means, my friends, I actually have to break out the Pine Sol and wax up the Batpole (no pun intended). :)  I'm not really used to havin company anymore, other than Vaughn and he's used to the fridge bein empty! :)  Anyway, if you have some free time and wanna come check out either one or both of the shows, please feel free to stop on by or if you're in a mood to clean, I'm always open to some free manual labor! But don't worry, I'll be doin the dusting...!! :)

Just back from Dallas Sci-Fi Expo...it was an ok show, Saturday was good but Sunday was not good!  Hardly anyone showed up on Sunday...the promoter had no panels set up and just about all the celeb's were scheduled for Saturday only...so there was no reason for anyone to come back the next day! ARGGGGGGGH!!!  Oh well, got to see my bud's Tim, Champ, Satan, TonEy, and Rhianna aaaand got a chance to meet TonEy's magician buddy Toad...That's right Toad! He's got some really cool card and coin tricks!!  But the best thing was I got to spend time with Vaughn....and that's all that really matters!

Next stop Wondercon March 16-18.

Happy V-Day everyone...tell those that you love, that you love them and don't ever take them for granted!!!!

Headin out this Friday to the Dallas Sci-Fi Expo with my youngest son Vaughn (13) in tow! Looking forward to hangin out and spendin some quality time with him...He's a huge help when settin up, breakin down or mannin the fort when I have to step away from the table...be it, for a coffee or gettin an autograph or hittin the head cuz of all of that coffee.  Since we've never done this show before, we're really lookin forward to it..I hear it's a well attended show, plus it has some pretty big name celebrities and comic artists lined up...so that's good! A lot of my Texas buddies are gonna be at this show, so that'll add to the nonsense!!!  And the obvious BIG news for this weekend is that The Walking Dead starts back up on Sunday night.  Whoo-Hoo!!!  So after we break down on Sunday, we are all gonna be plastered to the nearest tube to catch all of its gory goodness!!!!!  GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Hope to see some of ya there!!

Just got back from New Orleans and I can't tell you how much I love that place!! I went there 2 years ago with someone very who was important to me and we had a blast...so goin back there was kinda bitter sweet, but i still had a great time!!!  Personally, during the 3.5 days while I was down there, I think I single-handedly helped thier economy up a notch or 2...just with all the food I ate, beer I drank and strippers I tipped!!! I wanna throw out a BIG THANK-YOU to my buddy Tim Gardner (my now manager), Champ, Satan, TonEy, The lovely Rhianna (TonEy's way better half..just kiddin bud!!), Brent (no "D") and everyone else that was part of this lil slice of heaven I call a trip. The Wizard show was very well attended and the people there were just wonderful!! I met Norman Reedus (Daryl from Walking Dead), got his auto, also gushed like a lil girl...which does not effect my man-card status what-so-ever!! :)  If you've never been to New Orleans...it's just the greatest place on Earth (my opinion)!!!  I love the food, the attitude, the atmosphere, the people, the music, the look and just everything that is New Orleans!!! To all of you that stopped by to say "hi" and bought some art, thanks a ton!!!  Next show scheduled will be the Dallas Sci-Fi Expo (Feb 11-12) which I am excited to announce...I will be bringin my youngest son Vaughn...(mostly to help me carry my stuff), just kiddin!! I love my boy dearly and cannot wait to hang out with him at the show!!!  Any-WHO, after a small break from drawing, mostly from my own head-garbage and depressed state, I'm happy to announce that I will be starting drawing again tonight and forge on to bring new pieces to the wonderful people here on DA and of course all of my up-comin shows!!!  ROCK-ON and have a great day!!!
